Fletcher Bay Winery's Battle Point Red Wins GOLD!
Fletcher Bay Winery was honored at the Northwest's biggest wine competition, The NorthWest Wine Summit, with two medals. Battle Point Red earned the GOLD in its price category and Valvano won SILVER in the next higher price category.
The NorthWest Wine Summit, held annually at Hood River, Oregon for over two decades, features over 1000 wines competing from Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and Alberta for the region's top wine honors.
Culinary Quest was at the Island Wine Weekend in October 2010 and got an early taste of our Cabernet Sauvignon before it quickly sold out.
"I re-tasted Jim's Cabernet Sauvignon and OMG is that a fantastic wine.
I tried it early on so really got the full flavor of it before I had tasted too many other wines.
At $22.50 it is a real bargain."
Bainbridge Uncorked in April 2010 was a complete success and sold out.
Area wineries donated wine with proceeds benefiting the Bainbridge Downtown Association.
The deVine Wines Blog has the scoop:
"My favorite? The Valvano blend from Fletcher Bay Winery. This wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet grapes. Mostly I liked it because the woman who was pouring for Fletcher Bay introduced it to me by saying 'You’re gonna like this, but not as much as you would if you had some spicy Italian sausage with it.'
"Which is true…that’s always true. I’m sold. Once I’d tried it, instead of asking 'what notes of spring fruit did you notice?' she said 'yeah…it’s good huh?'
"I’d recommend going tasting there on pure impression. They were a lot of fun and made me feel right at home. I’m sure she could whip you up some Italian sausage to go with your bottle of Valvano."
